Last night I went off to my little (middle) sister Emily’s graduation. It was long and boring as crap (feel free to share that information around) and the info booklet belonged in a funeral home – however, it was good to see her complete her schooling life and it really wasn’t all entirely bad.
Of course, yesterday also marked the fearful, ‘results come out’ day. I was woken to screaming. My smarty pant’s little blister has raised the bar for Hannah (who has two years to go) in beating both Laura’s and my score’s. In the 90’s. I personally think she deserved every bit of it and definitely since we continually harp on about her being so vague. Hit us where it hurts…. not that it does. Congratulations Emily – if you even read this.
As far as I know she’s following what I did in heading off for a year at Tabor for Year In the Son before waltzing off to probably whatever uni course she had as her first preference.
I think most of the screaming was directed in my ear…. as I was (and am now no longer) the B girl with the highest mark. I can still hear her.

What was your experience like at Year in the Son?
Absolutely fantastic Steve. I grew heaps – but then I think it does vary from year to year and we probably classed as ‘highly sensible’ compared to a few in the past. The program is evolving and developing in to something pretty amazing, the guy running it, Rowan is top quality and almost everyone has a positive experience (although some don’t realise it until the end) if you struggle academically it can be a bit of a push. I’ve written about it before back in my archives and I can possibly dig something up.
But I would recommend it to many I know, not everyone perhaps but it’s amazing the variety of people we had go through in our year.
The sense of community that develops is phenomenal.
I’d love to maybe one day go back and be involved somehow, we’ll see.
