Something I haven’t yet officially participated in is what is known as a Blogging Meme.

Simply, it’s one giant game of tag amongst Bloggers. Last night I got tagged by Christina.

Six Weird Things About Me

  1. I am a non-identical, youngest twin. Laura has 2 minutes on me. I have 2 inches on her. As a general rule I rebel against most things twinish. Before you ask, the answer to, “Do you have ESP” is, “No”.
  2. Growing up I collected everything from: Dogs, Cats, Books, Fonts, Coins, Stamps, Horses/Horse Books, Stickers, Teddy Bears, Pass It On Cards, Bookmarks… I must have grown out of it because the only things I collect now are blog links and the odd coffee mug/latte cup.
  3. I can fold my tongue over like this (that isn’t me)
  4. I grew up in the Solomon Islands and I can speak Solomon Islands Pijin although not very well any more. While I’m on the subject, Meme means ‘mushy fruit’ in Pijin.
  5. The thing that most scares me is Karaoke.
  6. Tell tale signs for me being stressed out: I won’t have read a fictional book in a while, my room will be a much more of a mess than usual. NB: Sometimes things are this way totally separate from what is going on.

(and if I had to have a 7th, it’d be that I find it incredibly difficult if not impossible to properly scream)

and I shall tag the following six people:

Samantha
Louise
Paul
Burkie
Laura

cafeLazy blogging often includes links to interesting articles. As ‘lazy blogging’ is the flavor of the day, this article proved interesting to my own today-apathetic self (believe me, without a car you feel stranded – even if I don’t have anywhere to go).

So here goes: The Theology of Glory

tip: bypass the ‘how we got to the interview’ section at the start unless you’re me and like reading everything in excess.

Why is this interesting Rebecca? Well… in the continuation – slow it may be – of my reading,The Pleasures of God (John Piper), this is some of the the stuff that I’ve been thinking a little about. To work that what that is out, you must read it.

I am throughly encouraged that God continues to understand that I seem to need a lot of related information shoved at me at particular times for certain themes and ideas to really sink in.

If you have not known me long you will not have realised that my memory is very insufficient and although I get excited about ideas (like such presented in this article) if you come to me a moment later I will have only the slightest scercik of an idea of even what it is on about. I catch a thread and unless I spend an immense amount of time investigating and WRITING IT OUT it just disappears.

Sadly I might just have to live with never being one of those cool 3rd year uni smarts sitting in a cafe having interesting and philosophical discussions over coffee-glorious-coffee with other like-brained and diverse individuals. There goes that dream…

Bear with me. Get some coffee, read up. Share some thoughts if you have any and I might work out what got me that little bit enthused and all those extra marvelous thoughts will come rushing back. Something like a coffee hit – but better.

I think that’s a very long winded way of telling you that the article is good… for some reason I can’t fully remember or adequately describe.

list

listnoun
a series of names or other items written or printed together in a meaningful grouping or sequence so as to constitute a record.

It’s a semi-tradition at the start of each holiday to write myself a list. I have a secret fascination with a line up of of good old fashioned dot points.

  • When first inspired I’ll type the list
  • When it comes to using the list I’ll generally rewrite it out by hand
  • One of my greatest stationary finds of all time was two tall skinny notebooks ideal for list keeping.
  • My mum writes lists of words starting with the same letter or sound to entertain – herself. I don’t really have to wonder where I got the habit from.
  • I used to and still enjoy finding things that I can categorise, so that I can start and restart lists
  • I find immense satisfaction (more than I’ll ever let on) about crossing something off a list
  • I’ve been known to add something to my list just so I can cross it off
  • Lists help me to accomplish tasks
  • I spent a very large percentage of time keeping lists of ‘what to study, when’ in Year 12 and used them to great effect, my study habits have never been as good as when I had this first class system.
  • I always regret not writing a ‘to do on my holiday list’ during the non-holiday period
  • Lists help me to remember
  • I love lists and I fully understand that dot pointing all this stuff is an incredibly daggy and pathetic way to prove a point.

So my holiday list is at a decent length already. Some is time bound, cost bound, necessary, hopeful, maybe… I’ll refine it as I go.

I can now successfully cry about calling up the Department of Justice Speeding Fine information line to request that they fine me again. (Don’t ask how, but I lost the paper before I could pay up). My only consolation is that I can cross something out on my list of things to do..

…and for those who have been on my back for months about booking a physio appointment, fear not! It is on my list.

So… I noticed this on Stephen’s blog and although I don’t find it overly hilarious, it’s kind of a decent way to point out some flaws and identifying factors of the whole Myers Briggs thing.
