Ode to Lightroom

I am enjoying doing a little more photography… and also LOVING Lightroom and RAW files. Made an vintagey action… So here’s the beautiful Anna with the ‘Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty’ action applied. The name is a hat tip to the Big Bang Theory (totally to amuse myself)

Something that REALLY annoys me is when photographers make black and white or colour edits and don’t supply the original in colour. You should always get the colour option (unless of course the photo cannot be saved any other way… in which case it probably shouldn’t be in the selection).

I am shooting my first solo wedding on Australia Day next year. Just a wee bit excited.

Vietnam

The remarkable opportunity has come up for me (through work of all things) to visit Vietnam. I will be doing some photography for Plan Vietnam around sanitation/hygiene. I leave in two weeks – which is scarcely enough time for me to work out if I need vaccinations let alone get any. I don’t know too many details of the trip yet, but should be enlightened post long weekend. I will be away probably a tad over a week. This is truly exciting way to branch out the photography further (for it is definitely something I’d like to be doing more rather than less – but is a wee bit tricky when you work full time already). I’m hoping to catch a few more weddings this year as well.

It’s also really interesting in light of the vocation question. But I’ll leave that one there for the time being.

I love any chance to take photo of willing subjects… it’s SO fun. And am thinking I should investigate if there are any photography classes around, that will make me get out there a bit more and try some new things. This photo is from a rather extensive lot I took of my lovely cousin who is due in April.

I would share more but she hasn’t seen them all yet and it is only fair.

Yesterday I had my last class at uni. Five years since school, three years in Communication Design. I hung around yesterday for a late lecture as a honorary last visit and it came with satisfying closure.
