Lets run with JEALOUS all over my face and leaking out my fingers.

This is the nicest blog I have ever seen. Functionaly, navigation, interactivity (in how it draws you in) – it’s all superb. Naturally, it’s the guy who also designed the WordPress logo. I truly love web design and have a niggling regret now and then that I did the swap from multimedia to communication design. Yes the Deakin course was the wrong one, but I can’t help thinking I should’ve gone to Swinburne Multimedia over Swinburne Communication Design. At least my sideline love affair with CSS can continue and perhaps one day I will reach the point of worthy of making such a splendid website. For now I must continue to hack away and try things in my spare time. A little more injection of ambition and risk might be good too.

A job somewhere like this would be the dream.

Meanwhile… I’ll go back to doing some not so exciting homework to get me closer.

I have decided lately that web-design might just be avenue of design to chase, unless of course I somehow can fluke myself into being paid to write my pretty little head out.

Oh yes, and tomorrow I am 22.

Blogging Design Words

Crikey, it’s been a long time since I’ve done this, and I’m going to pay because there are 60+ well worth going-to posts sitting in Google Reader waiting to be shared. I think I’ll should make this a monthly/bi-monthy effort. But hey, I’m on this beautiful new machine so I might as well hit the list.

To change it up a bit this time I’m going to somewhat categorise the links. As you might have guessed I do read particular types of blogs, design features up there oddly often in the shape of interiors (rather than graphics) I think it is my secret lust of pretty yet functional things. I’d love to have a house I could do anything to and the money to match. Alas I shall for the moment content myself with saliva inducing photographs. Anyway as I was saying, design isn’t probably the highlight of everyone’s day – regardless you should at least venture in to just ONE of these posts if only to expand your mind even if it constricts and flees with horror.

And that’s all for the design line up this time around, more ‘other’ coming later.

Blogging Create Design

dan-mccarthy7.jpgAfter all my whinging, the internet is not totally destitute of quality help for stuck youth leaders.

In my digging for something that we needed for youth on Sunday FAST, which I didn’t end up fulfilling (but things wound up okay), I found a whole lot of intriguing and useful blogs. Along with design related thing – a spawn from Church Marketing Sucks. Interesting.

Chase these links:

Church Marketing Lab – brochures/cards/flyers/posters done by people for Churches, some pretty good work here. I have a small bit of fun doing youth programs now and then, but I really don’t produce masterpieces. This might inspire me.

Jonny Baker – check the ‘Worship Tricks’ on the right hand side.

Passionately Pensive – her writing is fun and she shares ideas now and then.

Rethinking Youth Ministry – the title says it.

If you know of any other good ones please share.

image by Dan McArthy (I sourced it from somewhere else… but as usual I have forgotten where) regardless, there’s something pretty timeless and beautiful about it.
