remedy.jpgI bought a copy of Remedy by David Crowder Band the other day, and I am very happy – it’s a fraction different than some of the rest, easier flowing, more rock and even slightly electronic although who knows, I’m not fantastic at judging musical genres. Perhaps not lyrically as strong, but I’m really enjoying it. Sometimes simplicity, lyrically is what you need, on the whole it’s for want of a better word, uplifting. David Crowder band retain their position as my favourite Christian music artist. The CD is worth owning although I think that Illuminate still wins the prize.

sufjanstevens.jpgHe’s an odd one, Sufjan Stevens, at least from the wikipedia entry. I came across him about a year ago when I fell in love with a couple of his songs: Casmir Pulaski Day, The Transfiguration, The Dress Looks Nice on You. I lost these songs a few months back when I was mucking around getting my Ipod set up.

I was re-intrigued when I heard him again on the soundtracks of both Little Miss Sunshine and Driving Lessons.

Despite all this, I never bothered – although I wanted to. My friend Analise suddenly got obsessed but followed me in just leaving it.

I found his CD Illinois (or Come on feel the Illinoise) on sale the other day! Now I am a very satisfied, owner, listener, appreciator. This is Indie folk at it’s best and stangest!

webb.bmpStrictly speaking the title is a lie, the music hasn’t actually made it only my Ipod yet – about to redeem that, but I have been listening to ‘She Must and Shall Go Free’. After mentioning Derek Webb a while back, when I saw an earlier CD for sale on $5, I figured I couldn’t go too terribly wrong.

The CD itself has a few moments of ‘way too country’ for my taste, but his lyrics are thought provoking, gut-sung and the majority of the music is really quite alright – not utterly brilliant, but not bad.

I found it quite hilarious that it originally (it’s a few years old now) got banned from some Christian retailers for using ‘too strong language’. This CD is essentially about ‘The Church’.

Anyhoo, off you go and read a review here if you’re ever so inclined.
