Safe

The following is from a memorial poem that I found via Molskinerie, I’m not entirely sure for what specific memorial but I really liked it.

Something resonated.

Day is done,
gone the sun,
From the hills,
from the lake,
From the skies.
All is well,
safely rest,
God is nigh.

Go to sleep,
peaceful sleep.
May the soldier
or sailor,
God keep.
On the land
or the deep,
Safe in sleep.

Love, good night,
Must thou go,
When the day,
And the night
Need thee so?
All is well.
Speedeth all
To their rest.

As for the above, apparently it was (yesterday I think) memorial day in the US. There you go. Ignorant Aussie. I might have started following Thanksgiving but it might be a bit much to start recognising world holidays…. pity, we’d get a lot more days off!
