Annoyinger and annoyinger.

Is Google Reader giving anyone else issues. I haven’t been able to look at any feeds for about 3 days. It shows me they are there but when I click on categories/posts they come up as un-read.

This renders Google Reader utterly useless. I don’t want to have to go back to Bloglines.

(Sorry about no pictures, my internet connection has gone to the dogs – I am on the very edge of wireless range from my landlord’s house and the weather or something seems to make it very unhappy indeed.)

Blogging General

jane_gray_lookingatyourself.jpgI discourteously did Onno Knuvers the dishonor of not linking to his website (Due to my use of an image of his in the previous post). So I must do that now.

He is – from my reading – a Dutchy (a very good start!) turned New Zealander. And by a further glance he has some very cute and clever little illustrations. Not meaning to suck-up to nullify my ‘crime’, but I did really rather appreciate this one. (And I can hear Geoff saying in my head, ‘No you’re not sucking up at all!’, in his amused/sarcastic way – scary that!)

So there’s the first New Zealander – at my online front door.

The second lot are at my actual front door. In fact they’ve been living in our rather minute lounge room the past two nights. My lovely housemate’s doing (Who, quite realistically and honestly is a much nicer person than I am). Our lounge room, as tight as it is, is a fraction more comfortable than this couple’s car.

Isobelle (housemate) met them at the free meal my church puts on a couple of weeks in a row. Very nice couple. They’ve fairly recently moved across and yesterday fantastically both managed to score full-time jobs which was fairly important. They are now living in a tent in our front-yard.

Why am I sharing this some what more personal-to-them thing? A couple of reasons.

a) So I can ridiculously claim I’ve got New Zealanders at both my online and offline front doors and that collates into a nice easy blog title.

but more seriously,

b) So that I can remind myself of the crap that’s been sifting through my head and some less than perfect attitudes I have towards these kinds of things.

Conversations of late at: Vocare, Young Adults and with those around me etc. have been quite centered around money. This situation in it’s own way has allowed it to hit home.

I have so much freaking stuff.

Blogging Church Design Life Out of Home Social Justice

illustration-by-onno-knuvers.jpgMy good friend Jess has trotted off to Bali for a little while before she makes her leap to India at the end of the year on student exchange – she is a film and television student.

This is the same friend who took me ‘new face shopping‘. Bali really has nothing to do with her going to India and more to do with her Grandparents being involved over there with orphanages, and a family holiday. She has just entered the blogging world – officially or not, and I am going to link to her.

Exchange Me

I will re-link to her again once her India adventures start.

Blogging Relationships

Yesterday I took my small group – year seven girls, out for afternoon tea, and I had a blast.

Today I found out that one of them blogs. No, not just Myspace, but WordPress. How savvy is that! It even looks good.

I am proud.

Blogging Church Ministry

If I, a third person do this thing, does it become a meme?

Idea credit to Geoffrey and extra thievery off of Paul.

Reading:

Eyes Wide Open by Michael Frost. I haven’t actually touched it for a week – it is about seeing God in the ordinary and I am loving it and getting heaps out of it. He is much easier to read than Hirsch. The stuff is also very applicable as to where I kind of think God wants me to direct my year seven girls small group.

I am also reading Luke. I seem to be forever stuck in Luke. I was going very slowly through it by myself then Vocare happened and I seem to be still there. I have occasional deviations into Romans and Psalms etc… but when the Bible reading happens (never as much as it should) it generally pivots towards Luke.

I am also reading way too many blogs than is healthy.

Listening to:

Well, I borrowed a, “Me Without You’ CD from my friend Analise and confess I don’t really like it, I heard one other song and absolutely loved it apparently each CD is very different and she happened to lose it just before I could get my hands on it. Also a little bit of Pony Up (Analise again – some of which I like), a random selection from my Ipod with a current ‘often listened to’ by Ben Lee  of all people (He really can’t sing that well), Lior (again) and I found out tonight that the Shins are playing at Rubys in August!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But it’s $60 and I so want to go!

Watching:

Nothing much. I caught a tiny bit of the news tonight. Saw an online video (Getaway segment) of a place I’m eyeing off for um… honeymoon.

Loving:

Geoff and the interesting things that come out of his mouth (words and such – don’t get too obscure!). Being engaged, because looking at wedding stuff is really a lot more fun than I’ll ever admit and heading towards marriage is beyond cool.  That by tomorrow 4:00pm all my assignments will be handed in and I’ll be officially on holidays for 9 sweet weeks.

That was an easy post to write – but definitely not one of the more interesting ones. Prepare yourselves, soon I will have more time than I know what to do with!

Just to be annoying and start a meme, I tag: Anne Jackson (when her website starts working again) and Analise.
