The Smulo man is getting us out there commenting, and although I am a day late (by date) I am matching my Northern Hemisphere bloggers… not intentionally – I kind of forgot after I committed.

I am appalling at commenting on other blogs despite reading (literally) hundreds.

I have commented on these blogs – some of which I have made myself known already, some which I had been simply a lurker, it is a weak effort but a start:

Wonderful Awful Things – Rain

Sew Green – Green Giving for Kids

No Accounting for Taste – Letterpress & Gocco Cards

CasaSugar – DIY paper covered pens (I don’t think this is a true blog… but I like the idea)

Smulo Space – Blog Comment Day Tomorrow – okay this doesn’t count either but for now it will have to be.

Blogging

Well the holidays hit and the blog rev turns instead to a grunting stall.

Monday night went something like this: Okay, I feel a bit odd but I might go to Blair and Kyla’s Christmas craft night, because it’s a bit different and could be fun… 15mins after Geoff drops me there, I throw up in toilet. I get Laura to take me home and subsequently spend the rest of the evening throwing up/the other side of the story, not getting much sleep and generally sick.

Tuesday I coped, slept and worked (?weird but true) and didn’t chuck until after dinner, post some stupid food choices.

It is now Wednesday and I was almost convinced I was better this morning, but have since spent a good part of the day in bed in front of a movie.

At least while I survive on salada’s and powerade, there are some interesting blog related ideas brewing with a few friends of mine. And now I have to go to a branding meeting.

Blogging Life

While I’m on a roll, this is my current computer location. Probably the neatest area of my house at the moment… my whopping huge desk is in the study where the globe has blown and is covered in a whopping huge printer and a lot of paper and books… besides getting through to it as difficult as there are still boxes all over that floor.

And the Coffeehouse Theology book finally arrived today, as did a very belated 18th present for my little sister.

Blogging Books Life

2John put me on to this site a few days ago… I’m still trying to work out what it is exactly, but it looks rather interesting. This post however is to get me a copy of the new Keane CD, which I want, but probably wouldn’t go out and buy straight away as I spend far too much money at JBHiFi.

Blogging Music

Apparently I have to credit Geoff for this idea… because it is his, but as I am married to the man – I technically still own at least some of the IP (What?) so I’m going to write about it anyway.

My attitude to Blog Action Day is somewhat like my attitude toward poverty. In that I really would like to do something about it, but life gets in the way. It’s a crap excuse. As it currently stands, it is nearly 11pm and I have to finish this post, print out stuff for uni for an 8:30am class as well as fix up a cover letter, while still wanting to watch an episode of the West Wing before bed. My grand scheme of thoroughly researching and writing up about Design related approaches to poverty has fallen in a heap, and I am here with a lot of good intentions but not a lot of practical outcomes.

It saddens me that the most obvious, in your face experiences of poverty (at least as a western, middle class, train rider) when asked for money come first with a knee jerk reaction followed quickly, but not quickly enough by the guilt to do something about it when it’s already too late, the moment has passed.

We are not proactive about poverty and often do not have the right mindset about it even when our intentions are good.

This is my confession.

And here is as far as I got with my design/poverty based research (I would love to know of more):
