By way of posting something today (as anything overtly interesting has not yet come up) I am going to point out some of the blog posts I’ve ‘Starred’ in Google Reader over the past month or so. So you get a list of stuff that’s made me think. I get a reference point and can clear the space up for more ‘good reads’.

very apt.

I watched The Joy Luck Club tonight. I am an Amy Tan fan, having read only one book – not this one.

It made me cry. That doesn’t happen very often. The acting wasn’t even very good.

About this time a year ago I started investigating going to see Handels Messiah performed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

It is possibly my all time favourite piece(s) of Classical music and it carries with it a mountain of sentimentality of Christmases past.

So. Tonight I get online to hunt for two tickets – C reserve (ie: cheapest, or it starts getting ridiculous) and there are none, zip, nothing.
…what a bummer. It’s now: try every few days and hope for the best, or pay up big and I don’t want to do that.

Maybe I should just save my money up for a different theatre’ish experience? You don’t know of anyone other than the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra performing it around this area do you?

*ah ha! the Royal Philharmonic Society at the Melbourne Town Hall… might have to be the goer.

helpSomebody asked me the other day whether I was nervous about my uni application and I said no. Last night I realised that I’ve spent the past few moments (over several days) before drifting off to sleep thinking about what would be good say during the interview (if I got one) – so maybe I unintentionally lied just a little.

After hassling the mostly non-existent receptionists at Swinburne’s design faculty yesterday over my non-existent letter, “What’s going on?”. I waited somewhat eagerly for the postman and had just checked the box for the second time when I saw the standard bright orange two houses down.

Swinburne logo on the envelope. Grab, tear, scan. I now have successfully an interview on the 1st of December at 11:15am. It goes for 15 minutes.

Between now and then I have to properly put a folio together and at the moment I’m dithering around not really knowing what to do with myself.

summerI grew up without seasons. Permanent summer… sort of. Wet season or Dry season – I never quite worked out why the Dry season was always wetter. The only real distinction was that cyclones were a potential for one or the other and the other part of the year was fine.

This is my excuse for not recalling if we are still in Spring or have moved on to Summer.

Melbourne weather is ridiculous, four of five days ago there was snow on the not so distant mountains and today and tomorrow we’re up to 36 degrees (97 Fahrenheit).

This evening was stunning and the kind I’d like to prolong forever. Sat outside at Geoff’s with our feet in the pool and the sky was about as blue as you can get.

I’ve always loved Psalm 19 go on have a read.
