postcards.gifHere’s where you help me. Please.

I have made 20 odd postcards – admittedly, some of them quite quickly. Now I need to narrow them down to four final cards.

These must work as a set and all must be in the same alignment – all horizontal/all vertical. Keeping in mind that my word is Chomp and my Image is Tongs, which would you choose? These are meant to be postcards you would give to your friends, apparently.

The only other constraint, the second postcard across on the top row MUST be included as it is the only colour version I have done this size. And it’s probably smart to have at least one that includes both image and word.

Pick three. Probably easiest to follow a format of: Row X, Column X. rather than describing them.

chomp.jpgI did claim that I wouldn’t stray into the realms of doing anything for uni on my birthday however while I have some glorious spare time and am fully content (and full) from the amazing breakfast my housemate made me I’ll show you a few of the marks I’ve been making. Marks?

The class – Intro to Communication Design has been the most interesting, different, challenging but fun. I haven’t done much hands on stuff before and it is a new thing to be introduced to the concept of a ‘mark’ and it’s a bit odd.

tongs1.jpgThese drawings came out of a variety of exercises (including eyes shut/two hands at once/left hand). My object = kitchen tongs and my word = chomp.

I’ll eventually get around to producing my set of four postcards.

tongs2.jpgAs for being ‘arty’ – I always have struggled to make something entirely new. If I drew, it was from photographs etc… this has opened a door – or at least a window. Squiggles and lines can be interesting and very cleverly accidentally done. Some of my classmates work is utterly amazing.

Aside from marks,  a certain friend still hasn’t posted details of, ‘the big question’. Hurry up! And today I think I received more text messages than I cumulatively have ever gotten before… that and maybe a coffee machine!!!!!!!!!

General Life Uni

olive_by_autumn_rain.jpgAnd so the era of being 20 comes to a peaceful close with an attempted early night.

The homework situation today was curious. It did turn out that I didn’t really need things quite as complete for my Typography assignment – now due after the Easter break, kind of a pain. The one I should’ve perhaps spent a little more time on I managed to throw a few more draft things together and so got checked off, ‘satisfactory’ (Which was the better of two options) and the guy seems to like my work so it’s all dandy.

Thoughts about the word, ‘experience’ as a postmodern thing shall possibly arrive on your screen under my URL – however I have the hard job now of going to bed and turning 21 so if I feel so inclined tomorrow this space will benefit.

So this is me signing out as a 20 year old blogger… corny, kind of but hey – while the scope and excuse for immaturity lasts!

And some pertinent wisdom from my most favourite theologian,

“The future is something which everyone reaches at the rate of sixty minutes an hour, whatever he does, whoever he is.” – C.S Lewis

And a very excited congratulations to a good friend, darn you beat me! You’re bound to hear more about it soon. (Links to follow)
Enough secrecy and rambling, I’m going to bed. Goodnight!

typesmall.jpgI love underestimating.

You give yourself another ‘whole day’ to get everything homework related finalised and you do work solidly for you know, 7 hours and then you reach dinner and have to opt out of going to catch up with your friends because there are all these little pesky, “You must lay our your development work xyz and be ever so precise…” Then you have a short break to let your housemate rant about something (and enjoy it because it is a break and you kind of want to rant about it too) and a shower and make another cup of tea after stopping to eavesdrop the guitar coming from the other room while guiltily grabbing a few short minutes with God that should’ve really happened in the morning and finish up your last sidetrack by writing a blog entry before you get back to it.

You know you have an 8:30am start. You know this stuff really should be done by tomorrow (Even though it’s not final-final submission).

What do you do?

1) Turn to page 12
2) Turn to page 23

(Ps. TYPE – glorious creativity for my Typography assignment struck me during a monotonous Friday afternoon stock-take. I did only end up using one of those letters but they were by far the most fun to make. Bubblewrap is.)

No exemption for me.

They really weren’t all that helpful. When it starts with them not remembering you’re even coming you know it wont go well.

I’m not very impressed.
