shoes.jpgI’ve been without a camera for a good while now and after borrowing Geoff’s for a few days, I’m pretty desperate to start working my way towards one again. Then there are all these other things in the way… moving out. That is something high on the agenda.

Photography is a hobby and probably will remain only at that level. I’d love to work with it for a bit and then there’s the old dream job that never quite evolved… photo journalism. I think part of me would hate to be constrained through a contract. Taking unique photographs isn’t easy. People today are so thingy about being photographed (People photographs have a lot of scope…) I love details. Macro photography, Portrait type photography.

I haven’t gotten my Communication Design Interview date yet. I’ve been chasing the postbox. I should get a letter regardless of whether my ‘sample folio’ was good enough or not. It was supposedly meant to be here yesterday. My sister’s friend is in the same boat. Same course, same delay.

I fit some photography in during this year. It was the best bit of uni and strictly elective based. The Communication Design course does have some photography built into the structure but there is not quite as much flexibility for taking electives across faculties.

If/When I get an interview there will be a slightly panicked moment or 43 about how non-diverse my work is. My folio (when I pull it all together) consists mainly of photography and digital art (mostly from photographs with a few exceptions). I haven’t drawn anything since I was about 15 and the most recent thing I’ve painted is the picture at the top (last night at the Youth Group Art night).

Oh well, I guess I’ll meet that lion when it comes my way.

My how grand!

‘School’s Out’

I had my last exam at Deakin at about 9:15am this morning, (and maybe forever, or at least for a good few years, as Communication Design doesn’t have any – granted I get in).

baby dragonsIt’s nice.

The exam was, (to use an overused metaphor) a piece of cake. 12 short-long answer questions, the first 10 marks were simple definitions. I really only had to think a little about 2 of the 12.

The paper had a mistake in it, which I didn’t really realise until Jen pointed it out after we’d gotten out. HCI (Human Computer Interface) was written as: Human Computer Interaction, which is, like it or not vaguely different and probably did affect my answer.

I am actually reasonably pleased that’s so because out of the lot it was really the only question I had to hypothesize on a little bit and who knows 😛 It might be taken into consideration.

I’m pleased in some way that I didn’t put any more time into studying for it – it would’ve been a sobbing waste. Not nice on my work ethic conscience, I can’t have given it officially more than about 3 hours max.

Anyhoo, enough uni ramblings.

Holidays, I have been hanging out for You for a long, long time!

(and my isn’t this picture disturbing!)

FREE IPOD!!!

I’ve probably mumbled something on here about doing an assignment on Viral Marketing. And maybe my official stint at Deakin is nearly over but… hey look here’s the chance for you to get something and there’s absolutely no harm in me still helping to promote stuff.

“Now it is up to us to get people to visit and also email us that they have visited and how come they knew about it. So whats in it for them apart from some funny stuff?
We have two iPod Shuffles to give away. Anyone who emails prankdaddy@mac.com is entered in the draw. One name will be randomly selected. If that winner has told us who pointe
d them to the site then that person will also win an iPod Shuffle.”

SO.

Email that address. Visit Prank Daddy and make sure you include your name (and my name, be nice) in the email.

Exam #1 is OVER!!!!

I’m pretty confident I passed. Whoopdedoo!

Had a seat smack bang in the middle of a massive massive gym full of well… a lot of tables.

Multiple choice was easy as anything, the essay bit x4 were all answerable and the middle section was… well I probably filled that with a fair bit of, ‘yeah I really don’t know what’s going on’ BUT I know I will have gotten some marks for it and hey – enough to pass. I left a little bit early probably with about 25mins to spare. I had some kind of answer in for everything, (Which is my absolute intended minimum for any exam, no exceptions).

Ended up getting the train home with Chris M and dropping him at his place. Wow that boy can talk.
Now to adjourn to a social life and sleep until Monday where the study must begin again.

“Paul’s Video” is the one I was involved in. I’m assuming more stuff will eventually end up on the site.
