bombiconYou know Solitaire, all the old icons for hands and cursors, MAC/PC etc…

I found out today that they were designed by Susan Kare. I’d honestly never even thought about it before… the things we take for granted!

Oh yes. I am running on a pathetic ammount of sleep. I woke up at 3:30ish… do you know that the first kookaburra awake at this time of year starts at about 4:24am – I was fractionally surprised, but then I was all too occupied in breathing through half a nose and coughing seemingly non existant gunk from my lungs to think about it much more than to note the time for later sharing.

…perhaps I should finish off that assignment, or maybe empty my bin and go find another box of tissues?

Right. To appease the masses, the header now links back to the homepage of this blog. You wont see a little hand showing you that it’s a link – to find out why this is so (if you are so intrigued) it is something to do with Java Script and Geoff did it so I have no clue.

Secondly. I was under the impression my first exam was next Monday. It turns out that it’s actually on the Thursday. I did know it was on the 2nd – not sure how I got the day, day wrong. Which means at least one possiblity has opened up… (maybe I will come see you preach Paul).

I’ve had a glorious time thinking I’d gottten what inspired Geoff to write ‘Snotty‘ but infact have taken an alternative germ. The past two nights have been sleep eager and I’ve been downing the drugs like someone dependant. My throat’s been screaming obsencities in a dull awkward kind of way (NB all metaphorical) and in the past few hours I’ve managed to cough up… stuff. It’s not been all that pleasant. In short: sore throat and feeling pretty shocking.

Yesterday G and I went down to the costal Williamstown for a picnic lunch with Pete and Kathy (old pastors) and a few others. It was an enjoyable afternoon despite feeling a little bit like I should really not be standing up.

Today comes with the obligation of at least coming close to completing that last assignment so I can get started on studying for my first exam.

7525000539_l0.jpgYouth night tonight. Cake. I made six of them yesterday. Numbers were down but the food was up. Lollies and cream and icing everywhere. We shouldn’t have bought cream. They had a ball.

What made it worth it (and really, I pick the oddest things) – was that I happened to catch one of the girls eyes (new girl) during the God Spot and gave her a bit of a smile and got the most massive grin back.

So much cake around me that a half piece was enough – any more and I would’ve been sick.
James came to help out.

It was a good night.

Had a marvellous day wandering Richmond with G who had the day off work, came back for coffee and watched a rabbit in it’s death throws.

Congratulations to Jess Rae over at Breaking, Shaping, Moulding… That’s the most misleading and delightful blog post I’ve read in a long time!

FLASH!

So I was going closer 60 than 50 in a 50 zone… along my own road.

I’ll find out just how bad I was being whenever the letter arrives. They really shouldn’t make those things so bright – you’re far more likely to have an accident in response to one than in lieu of speeding just slightly.

It’s a worry how it happens – I had conversation about speeding tickets just the other day.

I also mentioned something last night about setting your alarm to wake up on time (along with the benefits of coffee).

I set the alarm last night. I didn’t wakeup on time. Last day at uni and the only lecture I really sort of needed to be at was the one first up. I missed that well and truly, so I didn’t go.

I drove down to get my supplimentry folio application printed as we no longer own a colour printer and the uni printer produced some horrendous result – $20 later.

While I was there I ducked into the pharmacy to get a passport size photo done. $10 later. I get six. One for the uni application, the other for the working with Children form that I need for youth leading. Five for whatever. A quality mug.
Come home and fill out the rest of my application, it lands in the postbox. I’m in the post office and the guy is ticking off all my proof of identity documents. OK. OK. OK. OK. It’s all okay. Reaches the photo. “Uh, your face is 2mm off the right size”. I’m sorry, your face is too short can you just pretend to stretch yourself for a moment?

Pissed off just a little bit is probably one way to put it. $10 for effectively one useable photo. I am not driving all the way back and paying for another, at least today.

I read something on budgeting this morning. They may factor in 10% for some spending flexibility, but they never tell you to add a column for abnormal expenses.
